Jose Silva

Jose Silva (1914–1999) was an American self-taught parapsychologist, author, and the creator of the Silva Method — a meditation and self-improvement program used by millions of people in over 100 countries. Born in Laredo, Texas, Silva never attended school a single day as a student, yet his curiosity about the human mind led him to develop one of the most widely practiced mental training systems in the world.

Beginning in 1944, Silva spent over two decades researching how the mind could be trained to function at deeper levels of awareness. His breakthrough insight was that the alpha brainwave state — normally experienced only during light sleep or daydream — could be deliberately accessed while fully conscious, dramatically enhancing creativity, problem-solving, and intuition.

The Silva Method, originally known as Silva Mind Control, launched commercially in the 1960s and has since been taught to over 12 million graduates worldwide. Silva authored several books including The Silva Mind Control Method and developed the Silva UltraMind ESP System. His work bridges the gap between Eastern meditation traditions and Western scientific inquiry into human potential.
