Larry Janesky
Larry Janesky is an American entrepreneur, author, and business trainer who built one of the most successful home improvement networks in the United States. Born on August 25, 1964, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Janesky earned the rank of Eagle Scout at age 14 and graduated from Bullard-Havens Technical High School at 17. Rather than pursuing a traditional college path, he launched his career as a self-employed carpenter, completing his first home construction contract at age 18. In 1987, he founded Connecticut Basement Systems, specializing in basement waterproofing and radon mitigation — developing proprietary products along the way and ultimately holding 31 patents.
From that single Connecticut startup, Janesky built Basement Systems, Inc. into a dealer network spanning over 220 locations across North America. His entrepreneurial vision extended beyond basements: he co-founded Total Basement Finishing (2006), Supportworks (2008), Dr. Energy Saver (2009), and Klaus Roofing Systems Network (2019), collectively known as Contractor Nation. His accomplishments have earned him the Connecticut Small Business Person of the Year award (2012), the National Eagle Scout Association's Outstanding Eagle Scout Award (2015), and the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award (2015). He also competes in extreme motorsports, having completed the grueling Baja 1000 and won both its Sportsman Class and the Pro UTV class.
As a Nightingale-Conant author, Larry Janesky brings the hard-won wisdom of building hundreds of businesses to listeners seeking breakthrough performance. His programs — including The Highest Calling, an inspirational novel about business and life, and Masterpiece, an innovative audio experience blending personal development with music — distill three decades of entrepreneurial experience into practical, motivating lessons for anyone ready to do more and achieve more.
